The group will take on the task of designing a gardening school in Büyükdere on the tree nursery site established in 1928. Discussions will explore the notions of cultural landscape, transparency, sensory space, the experience of vocational training in the open air, heritage, horticulture, as well as juxtapositions of urban and rural, existing and new, solid and void, inside and outside. First weeks will include short exercises that will focus on vocabularies of form and design notions such as gradient, variation, rhythm. Discussions on personal design methodology, and the use of computational means will be encouraged.
